Snowblast Winter Art Festival

Stop Hibernating! Plan to attend SnowBlast Winter Festival!
February 7 & 8, 2014

The 8th Annual SnowBlast Winter Festival will take place throughout Emmaus, February 7 and 8, 2014. February is the perfect time to bundle up and head to Emmaus to have a blast … a SnowBlast! The festival schedule is packed with free, community-wide art related events.

Activities planned by the Emmaus Arts Commission (EAC) include many favorites such as the Friday night kick-off on the Emmaus Triangle with an appearance by the SnowBlast Ice Princess, Sculpted Ice demonstrations and the popular Ice Bar hosted by the Emmaus Main Street Partners (a partner of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce.) The EAC winter art festival includes the SnowBlast Art Show and Sale at the Emmaus Community Center for the Arts featuring special musical performances. Saturday continues with activities scheduled at the Emmaus Public Library, the Community Center for the Arts and other sites throughout Emmaus.

The winter season is an exhilarating time of year to enjoy a blast of outdoor activity and experience cool shopping, art demonstrations, cozy coffee shops, and dining.

Friday Night, February 7 - Unless otherwise noted, events take place from  5:00 pm – 9:00 p.m.

TRIANGLE PARK:

  • Opening Ceremony, Emmaus Triangle Park – 5:45 p.m.
  • Sculpted Ice demonstration, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Triangle Park.
  • Ice Bar on the Triangle hosted by Emmaus Main Street Partners featuring the popular “Icetini,” Warm Spiced Wine, Beer, Soda, Bottled Water. 5:00pm to 9:00pm
  • Food vendors at Triangle Park featuring Armetta's Italian Restaurant & Pub, Sugar So Sweet Cupcakes Truck and EMSP Pretzel Nuggets

  • Tai Chi demonstration featuring instructors and students from Lehigh Valley Martial Arts, 5:30pm, 7:00pm, 7:30pm

  • 4th Annual EAC Winter Arts Festival Show and Sale featuring a collection of artwork by local talent. Musical performances include Lehigh Valley Horn Ensemble, 6:30pm to 7:00pm; EPSD Chamber Orchestra, 7:00pm to 7:30pm; Students of Montero Violins – 7:30pm to 8:00pm; Pseudo Gipsy Trio, 8:00pm – 9:00pm
  • Artist demonstrations by watercolorists Richard Farmer, 6:00pm to 9:00pm; and Ed Klova, 6:00pm to 7:30pm

  • La Belle Cuisine - Enjoy dessert fondue of dark chocolate, caramel, and fleur de sel with fresh fruit for dipping.  Preview a special display of decorated bottles that are being made exclusively for La Belle Cuisine - Gem Lights and are made from empty wine bottles.  The artist re-purposed the bottles by decorating with fabric, paper, leaves, or vines.  They are frosted through either sanding or with cut glass.  Mini lights are then inserted in the bottles.  They are a perfect and beautiful night light.   • Let’s Play Books - Superhero artist and author Bob McLeod will read his popular book, SuperHero ABC, 6:00pm to 7:30pm, sponsored by Ai Orthodontics. 379 Main Street.

Project theme – "Paint your own Snowman Portrait on Canvas” – volunteers from Emmaus Arts Commission will be on hand to help kids and adults alike draw and create snowman art on prepped canvases. Completed artwork will be on display at the EAC’s Community Center for the month of February.
