SnowBlast Winter Arts Festival

The 8th Annual SnowBlast Winter Festival will take place throughout Emmaus, February 6 and 7, 2015. February is the perfect time to bundle up and head to Emmaus to have a blast … a SnowBlast! The festival schedule is packed with free, community-wide art related events.

Activities planned by the Emmaus Arts Commission (EAC) include many favorites such as the Friday night kick-off on the Emmaus Triangle with an appearance by the SnowBlast Ice Princess, Sculpted Ice demonstrations and the popular Ice Bar hosted by the Emmaus Main Street Partners (a partner of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce.) The EAC winter art festival includes the SnowBlast Art Show and Sale at the Emmaus Community Center for the Arts featuring special musical performances. Saturday continues with activities scheduled at the Emmaus Public Library, the Community Center for the Arts and other sites throughout Emmaus.

The winter season is an exhilarating time of year to enjoy a blast of outdoor activity and experience cool shopping, art demonstrations, cozy coffee shops, and dining.

Triangle Park:

  • Opening Ceremony, 6pm
  • Sculpted Ice demonstration, 6:15pm to 8:15pm
  • Ice Bar on the Triangle hosted by Emmaus Main Street Partners! Featured drinks include spiked hot chocolate, beer and water.
  • Outdoor Games (and fun!) sponsored by Lehigh Valley Martial Arts - Ninja Star, Snowman Beanbag Toss, Spinning Wheel
  • Music by Wesley Works Entertainment!
  • Fantastic Giveaways sponsored by Bear Creek Mountain Resort - Midweek Overnight stay for TWO! $250 value, includes lift tickets! (Raffle jar at Borough Hall – winner announced at 8:30 pm at Triangle Park. (Need not be there to win.)
  • Appearance by the popular SnowBlast Ice Princess, 6:30pm to 8pm,
  • Triangle Park; 8pm to 9pm, Community Center for the Arts, 2nd floor of Borough Hall
  • Lehigh Valley Martial Arts Demonstration Team, 6:30pm. Display of fantastic martial arts set to music and delivered with energy and excitement. They will break boards, spin swords, and slay dragons!
  • Tai Chi demonstration and mini classes for anyone interested in learning martial arts. Featuring instructors and students from Lehigh Valley Martial Arts, 5:30pm; 7pm; 7:30pm
  • Port-o-Potty located in Caramella Grille & Creamery parking lot, 322 Main Street.
  • Fire Pit warming stations on the Triangle and more!

COMMUNITY CENTER FOR THE ARTS (Emmaus Borough Hall 6pm to 9pm):

  • 4th Annual EAC SnowBlast Winter Arts Festival Show and Sale featuring a collection of artwork by local talent! Please note some artwork will be available for purchase – buyer purchases directly through the artist.
  • Music Performances: Lehigh Valley Horn Ensemble, 7pm; EPSD Elementary Chamber Players 7:30; Violin/Viola duet performed by Ryan Williams and Michael Montero - 8pm.
  • Artist demonstrations by watercolorist Ed Klova and acrylic artist Bob Boehmer.

Community Center for the Arts (2nd floor Emmaus Borough Hall) - 10am to 2pm:

  • 4th Annual SnowBlast Winter Arts Festival Community Art Project sponsored by the Emmaus Arts Commission:  The SnowBlast Community Art Project is the launch of a collaborative project with Woven Welcome - Making Community: Tying Ends and New Beginnings with Lehigh Valley communities and the Allentown Art Museum. Woven Welcome is a community-based art project that utilizes the woven rug as a statement of the interconnectedness of individuals as they interact and create a new sense of community based on the context of the project. On Saturday, February 7, Woven Welcome curator, Jill Odegaard, art professor at Cedar Crest College, will be on hand to show visitors how to weave on portable loom segments (rugs) that will become part of a larger textile on display in the Museum! Starting Monday, February 9, Woven Welcome will be at the Emmaus Public Library to continue the work.  The exhibition will be shown at the museum from June 14 to October 18. This is very exciting art news for the Borough of Emmaus!
  • Special fashion illustration demonstration and individual sketch journal review by artist Veronica Ballart Lilja.

The Liberty Lane Singers, the singing group from Wescosville Elementary School who were in the 2014 Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade, who will be performing a few songs, and lead a winter-themed singalong! 2pm to 2:30pm.
